Today’s post features a classic go to of mine — the sleeveless turtleneck sweater. As you can see from my pictures above, it’s incredibly versatile. Dressed up or down, it’s comfortable and provides a great foundation for any outfit.

Since we’re heading into the summer months I kept the sweater on it’s own, but in the winter I love to layer a silk or semi-sheer blouse under it — one of my favorites for work.

I love it for date night because it’s unexpected — this look proves you can still be sexy and sophisticated at the same time. There’s no need to show a ton of cleavage, or wear a dress up to there! Tuxedo pants are slimming, highlight subtle curves, and make every woman look like a million bucks. The top lets you show some skin while leaving something to the imagination.

My favorite aspect of this look is the shoes. If you can’t tell, I’m all about the pointed toe pump. It’s powerful, flatters the leg, and just makes everything look more streamlined. The slingback here adds a little formality, and is a step up from your basic pump.

Finally, pay attention to detail – add some pretty bangles, delicate bracelets, and earrings. I adore these gem encrusted hoops – they’re delicate but still make a statement.

When dressing down, the sleeveless turtleneck — particularly in a classic color such as the camel I used here — is great because it adds polish to your look and prevents you from looking too undone. I love wearing sneakers, there’s nothing more comfortable to run around in, especially as a mommy to a 10-month old and to a Siberian Husky who loves his walks! I’m on the go all weekend and I need something comfortable to take me from place to place — sneakers do the job. But, I also want to look polished and feminine — so how to bridge the gap?!

Get creative — obviously a skirt or dress is an easy way to add femininity to any look. But adding polish to sneakers is a bit more difficult. This top, in a classic cut and color, will elevate any look. Sunday brunch wearing sneakers? With this top, sure! Add a colorful scarf (I adore this one!), and some sophisticated sunnies (can’t go wrong with a cat eye), and you’ve got your polished, put-together, casual momma look 🙂
