A collection of 40 Flashcards containing simple words for pre-kindergarten or kindergarten students. Most of the words are simple enough to do independently, once you child knows their alphabet and has been introduced to basic phonics. There are a few challenge words containing consonant blends (“ch”, “sh”, and “sq”), as well as a few long vowels words (bike, fire, moon).
The cards may be used for both reading and writing practice. Have your child use letter tiles, available here, to spell out the word first. Then have him or her write the word on a pad of paper, one word on each line. More advanced children may do the exercise independently and have their written work checked once completed. Younger children may need assistance throughout the activity.
