Hello! Finally, our kitchen reveal is live! My tendency to continue tinkering has made me reluctant to publish this post. In full disclosure, I still plan to replace the existing valance above the sink, but almost everything else is (finally) done! As you can see from the “before” photos, we did a lot in this room 🙂
My main goal here was to create a light, bright and airy space with hints of French and British country. As always, neutrals dominate the scene but are complimented with splashes of earthy green and blue. The cabinets are Creamy White and the walls are White Dove (both by Benjamin Moore). We decided on French oak floors by California Classics Mediterranean Collection (Ligurian).
All the artwork was purchased on Etsy, and almost all pieces are by two artists: Krista at Krista Kim Studio and Shannon at ShannonElleArt. Shannon’s landscape art in particular is simply beautiful. With four of her paintings sprinkled around our home, I’ve become somewhat of a collector!
Playing off the warmth of the wood floor, I opted for warm golds, coppers, and bronzes for hardware, frames, etc. I also finally invested in a beautiful set of Mauviel copper cookware. I adore these and only wish I had purchased them sooner. Just be sure you also pick up the Mauviel copper cleaner to keep them nice and shiny!
The most tedious, yet fun, part of this process was in the small, final touches — deciding on which counter stools fit my aesthetic, choosing the striped seat cushions, finding a primitive gold bell at a local antique store, etc. If you’re currently going through a remodel, don’t rush these final steps. Resist the urge to throw some generic picture from Target up on the wall. Spend time scouring local antique stores, browse Etsy, or visit other locally owned small businesses. Besides Etsy, check out One Kings Lane (especially the Vintage section, Rejuvenation, and Leif Shop (love their fresh and fabulous table linens!). The chair you see below was found at an antique shop in a neighboring town. The seat was reupholstered with a gorgeous French toile design. I found several other chairs at big box type stores that were stylish, but I’m glad my patience prevailed and I waited to find this gem. Details like this give your house character and transform your house into your family’s home.
I did my best to collect all available products — including the lovely artwork — below! If you see something I missed, just shoot me an email at [email protected] … I’m happy to help track items down. Another Essential 25 post is coming your way shortly. Happy home building!
