Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, and Happy New Year! If you haven’t already packed up your holiday decorations, you’re probably planning to in the next day or so. I know, the post-holiday take down can be a buzz kill … no more twinkly lights, festive decor, or merry and bright. But, I’m a firm believer in turning change into opportunity … which is why each year, after wrapping up Christmas and New Years, I view the post-holiday clean up as a chance to declutter, simplify, and refresh our life — our home, our diet, our schedule, our priorities … everything gets a thorough evaluation and adjustment. So, I thought I’d share that process with you this year!
Each week I’ll share tips on how I refresh everything — our home, my workouts, our meals and diet, my beauty routine, etc.
Today I thought I’d start with home, specifically, the bedroom. I don’t know about you, but when my bedroom is a cluttered mess, I feel like a cluttered mess! I want the bookends of my day to be in a beautiful, organized, calming, light and airy space …
While everyone’s style is different, I find the easiest way to move from season to season without changing too much in your home (and avoid over-purchasing and cluttering) is to stick with a neutral palette. You can keep things fun and interesting, and roll with the season changes by switching up textures and adding pops of color or patterns.
For my winter refresh, I like to keep things super simple by sticking to mostly all neutrals …. I add warmth and depth with texture – furry blankets, embroidery, poms, tassels, and subtle lace details. If you’d like to introduce color, I’d suggest choosing soft pastel colors. Or add a small pop of color with a throw pillow, unique rug, or a natural element such as fresh flowers. But, as I said above, if you want to easily transition from one season to the next and be able to change up your decor fairly regularly, keep your decor around 90% neutral.
I’ve included a few images for inspiration from some of my go-to stores (above and below, with links to all the items pictured). I tried to include items at a variety of price points — after all, style should be available to everyone at whatever price they can afford!
I’ve also included a pinable list of things to consider when decorating/refreshing your bedroom for the winter months (see below)!

Anthropologie is probably the one store in which I’d be excited to shop for my entire home … there are so many simple, beautiful pieces but they all have unique whimsical details that make them special … you can check out all their bedding here … just see if you can identify a “favorite” … guarantee you find at least five or six!
