Hello!
Several of you have recently asked about my skincare routine, so today I’d like to share the products that, despite spending a lot of money searching for the holy grail of products, I always end up coming back to … and that are actually quite budget friendly!
I’ll discuss the products and routine in a bit more detail below, but I also wanted to create a “pin-able” version above so you can save the whole routine and access it easily anytime in your Pinterest account, or on Instagram. Enjoy!
The Face Shop Rice Water Oil Cleanser — I apply this first to break up all the makeup, dirt and grime of the day, and make it easier to wipe away. And this stuff smells divine!
Pacifica Cleansing Wipes — this brand actually makes a few different versions of this wipe, you can check out the others here (Cactus Water, Jasmine & Coconut, Rose Water), but I really like this one in particular … I can feel it working to remove any remaining grime from the day, and it gently exfoliates, leaving my skin super smooth.
Myconos Gel Cleanser — this stuff is amazing … the consistency is a bit gooey … but it’s quite refreshing … it’s gentle, pH balanced, and it leaves your skin feeling plump and moisturized.
Eva Naturals Vitamin C Serum — I tried this product on a whim, based solely on product reviews. Let me tell you, this stuff is amazing, and cost-effective! It contains vitamin C & niacinamide (both improve skin clarity and reduce hyperpigmentation), retinol (anti-aging), hyaluronic acid (deeply moisturizing), and aloe. It has a silky, luxurious consistency, and it literally melts into your skin. I’ve been using it for about six months now, and I notice a difference in the fine lines around my eyes, and my skin just generally looks brighter and more supple.
Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Gel Creme — With each passing year my skin seems to get drier and drier. Even in the humid summer months, it has that dry, crackly feeling unless I use one heck of a moisturizer. But, I also really dislike the way many heavy creams feel on my face — thick, greasy … not to mention how they mess with my makeup! But this stuff is great … it’s rich, but it has a silky, cool consistency, and it absorbs quickly, leaving my skin feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. The secret ingredient … hyaluronic acid … is a hydration powerhouse.
Origins Plantscription Youth Renewing Face Oil — like I said above, I have dry skin, so I like to add a facial oil to my routine. This isn’t necessarily for everyone (if you have very oily skin you may want to skip this step), but I would encourage you to give it a try even if you’ve never given a thought to facial oils. If you get a good, high-quality one, it will be light, and super-fast absorbing. And, while I admit it’s counter-intuitive, facial oils can often do wonders to unclog your pores, and clear up your skin. Yes, really! I used to be a skeptic, now I’m a full-fledged believer. This item is the priciest product in my routine, so if you’re looking for something a bit more budget friendly, I recommend L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Face Oil. It was my go-to before I upgraded to Origins, and it has a fantastic ingredients list at a great price!
Lavender Essential Oil Rollerball — again, this one’s optional, but it’s so good … I dare you to try it. Lavender has a well-established calming effect … roll on this earthy-smelling oil a few minutes before bed, do a few stretches and deep breathing to get your body relaxed before you hit the sack. It works.
Illuminage Skin Rejuvinating Pillowcase — so, full disclosure, I only recently began using this pillowcase, so the jury is still out on its effectiveness. I’ve actually had my eye on it for a couple years, mostly because the reviews are fantastic. But, I just wasn’t convinced enough to pay full price. I recently caught it on sale for almost 30% off, so I pulled the trigger. The secret sauce is copper, which is carefully embedded within the pillowcase fibers. The manufacturer claims you’ll see reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and increased smoothness. We’ll see how it goes … I’m excited to give it a try!
And there you have it … my routine in a nutshell! I do use a few other products periodically (mostly a variety of masks) that I’ll share in a future post, but for now, here are the everyday basics!
Best, K
