Hello Everyone! The holiday weekend is almost here … I don’t know about you, but I am so looking forward to some rest and relaxation 🙂
Generally, I find that many people start to ease into a long weekend a few days early. Think about it, it’s always slower the last few days of the week before a long holiday weekend. People take a more lax approach to work — show up a little later, leave a little earlier, test the limits of “business casual,” often crossing the line into what I’d just call “casual.” Today’s post is all about that fine line — pushing casual as far as you can while still maintaining the business side of the equation. And there’s no better item in your closet to keep things “business” than a sharp, sleek blazer.
Pair it with jeans and a tee, the epitome of comfort, and it still says, “I mean business.” I love this look for a Friday at the office (assuming your office permits jeans). The key is to be sure the tee is simple (no statement tees for this look), and the jeans crisp, clean, and with minimal with distressing.
I also tend to think this look is done best when kept classic — keep the blazer a neutral color (black, grey, or navy) and your accessories simple as well — I chose a classic black handbag, black belt, and pointed toe shoes. Add interest with small details — find a blazer with an interesting lining, or add a tassel or some other element of interest to your bag. Here, I chose a blazer with pinstripe lining and cuffed the sleeves, and added a fur pom to my bag, but kept all the colors simple, and neutral. The result: sleek and professional, but never boring.
What do you wear when you want to dress down, but still have to kill it at the office? Let me know, I’d love to hear from you 🙂
yours, Kristin
