Hello, how are you? How’s the first few weeks of 2023 going? Have you abandoned your New Year’s resolutions yet? If you’re staying strong, good work … if not, I have a great post coming up next week. I never really bought into the whole New Year’s resolution hype … honestly, it feels too contrived, too commercialized (how many diet ads and fads have you seen in the last few weeks). If you’re looking for a healthier, long-term approach to establishing change and building new habits, be sure to visit the blog next week!
But today, I’m super excited to share a new blog series I dreamed up in the last few weeks. I don’t know why, but all my creative juices begin flowing coming January. Perhaps the holiday fog recedes and the winter calm sets in … and my mind just wanders 🙂
The series is called The Essential 12: Home Capsule Collection. Finding its roots in my Essential 25 Capsule Collection, I got to thinking: why don’t I have something similar for home? As the outside world becomes ever more destabilizing, I think we’re all feeling anxious, tired, and eager for sanctuary. Our homes are becoming more important than ever. A home should be warm, welcoming, and full of character. A home should inspire calm, creativity, and gratitude.

My goal is to offer a collection of thoughtfully and intentionally curated home decor pieces to help you cultivate these feelings in your own home. While I’ve taken great care to select pieces that complement one another and are intended to be purchased together, each piece stands on its own in beauty and function, so please feel free to incorporate what speaks to you!
Over the next few months, I’ll roll out a collection for each of the most common rooms of a home: kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom, children’s bedrooms, home office, and gym. If you’re enjoying the collection, I’ll continue with another round of each (hence why I named this first collection, Kitchen Capsule Collection No. 1).
My first kitchen collection largely mirrors many of the pieces I currently have in my kitchen … I changed a few things when I took down my Christmas decorations — I updated my runner to a beautiful printed floral on jute (which is washable!), brought in fresh dish towels, switched out some of my artwork (my love of landscape art is real), and added a beautiful toile wallpaper to the side of the cabinets surrounding my kitchen sink. And I’m loving the natural, earthiness of it all! So, that’s the theme for this first capsule round — earthy & moody with a slightly more streamlined nod to the British countryside. I linked to the Essential 12 items for this kitchen capsule below, plus a few additional items that didn’t make it into the capsule, but that you’ll see in my photos above.
I hope you enjoy, and I look forward to helping you bring character and comfort to your home in the coming months.
