The older I get the more I come to realize that less really is more … when you’re in your teens and twenties it’s all about the trends — the latest “it” thing, whatever it is … you just have to have it. But in your 30s, life is complicated enough … simplicity is a luxury. And I grab ahold of it whenever and wherever I can. 
It’s also a sign of maturity … a willingness to let go of all the extra “stuff” that doesn’t really speak to who you are or what you love. You learn who you are and embrace it. This is when your own personal style really takes shape. It becomes much easier to say “no” to trends, stripping it down in favor of pieces that truly embody your own unique style.
