Happy Tuesday you guys! I hope you had a fun, relaxing Labor Day weekend! What did you do?
Jacob, Livi, and I had a low-key, relaxing weekend — lots of giggling, a few movies (True Lies . . . can’t go wrong with a little Ahhhhnold 🙂 ), a nice leisurely walk (these are my favorite … I could just walk and talk with Jacob for hours . . . it never gets old), and of course … sleep!
But now, it’s time to turn the page — fall has arrived! And, as promised, here is the first of several posts on how to wear white after Labor Day! White is one of my favorite colors (or non-colors) to wear — I wouldn’t be able to go entire months throughout the year without wearing it. Luckily, I don’t have to … heres how you rock it year ’round!
This first look is still quasi-summer, as the weather has not really turned yet — it’s going to be in the 90s again this week in DC! But, you could easily throw on a blazer here and take this look into the cooler months.
So … what makes this look work for fall? Two key factors: texture and color-pairing. There’ s nothing that says fall more than a cozy, chunky knit… like this sweater. It has fall written all over it, and it’s perfect for an early fall day with slightly warmer weather. And, it will transition beautifully into the cooler months by either layering a long sleeve tee or blouse underneath, or by tossing on a blazer over top! Just imagine this one … perfection.
And my purse and shoes …. leather and calf hair … fall, fall, and more fall.
And color! As summer draws to a close, the best colors to pair with white are darker, richer ones. Darker colors add depth and keep airy white grounded. Black and white is such a classic color combination, it’s really always appropriate. I think the browns and animal print I featured here are what really pull this look into fall …
And there you have it — our first post-Labor Day white look … what do you think? Would you feel comfortable and confident wearing a similar look during the fall months? Send me a note, I’d love to hear what you think!
And as always, you can shop the entire look below … and these gorgeous white pants are currently on sale, and they are the most comfortable things you’ll find outside of pajamas!
xoxo, Kristin
