Hello! Welcome to workout #2! A video of all the exercises is above, and you can find a few tips and notes on proper form and repetition information below.
As with Workout #1, this workout will be simple and straightforward (I may make things a little more interesting in the future, but for now I’ll stick to the basics): do each move for 45 seconds, moving from one exercise to the next without rest, and at the end of all six exercises rest for 30 seconds, and repeat the circuit up to four times (or only do one if that’s all you can handle or have time to complete).
The only curve ball with this circuit is for the two exercises using the barre ball. For both of these exercises you will do each of the following for 45 seconds: (1) a full rotation of the exercise, (2) pulses upward, and (3) squeezes with the ball. I included prompts in the video so it will become more clear once you watch!
You will also need a few pieces of exercise equipment for this workout — a set of dumbbells for the renegade rows and the barre ball for the fire hydrants and donkey kicks. These are available on Amazon (and I’ve linked to them below). I should also mention that going forward you will probably need a variety of dumbbells, ranging anywhere from 3lbs up to 20lbs, depending upon your fitness level. But I would have a range of options available — obviously you’ll want heavier weights for squats than you would for tricep work, so I would have at least a set of three: light, medium, and heavy (whatever those mean to you at your fitness level). You’ll also want a variety of resistance bands (I’ll be using them in next week’s workout), and a yoga mat.
One final note on modifications. For those of you just starting out on your fitness journey, some of these exercises may be too challenging as is … that’s okay. For the first exercise, if you’d prefer not to add the two jumps, just do squats and keep your feet on the ground. And feel free to do the renegade rows on your knees if you can’t hold the full plank.
If you have any questions please shoot me an email — I’d love your feedback. Happy sweating!
