Happy Friday!
Today’s post is all about versatility! There are certain pieces every woman should have in her closet, and a cashmere wrap, poncho, or cape is one of them. It’s true, cashmere is pricey compared to other fabrics, but I promise there are still affordable options, especially if you’re willing to be patient and grab one on sale. I snagged the one featured in this post for 60% off, and it cost me only $75! That’s a great investment for a piece that I’ll wear year after year, and that I can style numerous ways.
When we took off for California a few weeks ago, this was one of the first items I packed! When I’m at the beach it’s all about laid back comfort, and nothing fits that description more than a soft, loose, flowing poncho. Plus, it’s perfect for those cool nights when the marine layer descends upon the coast. I paired my poncho with wide leg linen pants and snakeskin embellished sandals to achieve a look that’s laid back, but still polished.

Details: Striped Skirt (Available here, currently 70% off!) // Pink Suede Pumps (Splurge here, Steal here) // Leather and Stone Wrap Bracelet (Splurge here, Steal here) // Black & Rosegold Watch (Splurge here, Steal here) // Black Leather Handbag (Splurge here, Steal here)
This is one of my favorite looks! I love playing with proportions and the wide sleeves and oversize cut of the poncho pairs beautifully with a wrap pencil skirt — true to my style it’s comfortable, sophisticated, and feminine. The stripes add a bit of graphic interest, and the pink suede pumps add a subtle hint of color without compromising the simplicity of the look. I added some statement cat-eyes for a bit of edge, and stuck to a classic for my handbag.
The possibilities for this outfit are endless — I preferred to keep things understated, but you could easily play up the poncho with a bright pop of color, or a printed skirt. My look is simply your inspiration — branch out and make it your own!
In terms of styling the poncho here, I simply gathered it on one side and tied a loose knot to add an additional element of interest. The rest of the poncho is tucked in to show off my waist, and to keep things looking polished rather than frumpy. Of course, your ability to tie one side will depend upon the poncho design, but be creative!

When I said all women need a cashmere poncho, this look should convince you why! Please tell me one other piece of clothing that you can wear in bed and to work or on a date! Good luck 🙂 Lounge around in this piece a few times and you just may never want to leave the house, it’s that comfortable. Pair it with some cute pajama shorts and spend your weekend at home lounging with a good book, a movie-marathon, or just good conversation with your significant other.
