Hello! Can you believe Halloween is done and gone, and the holidays are here! The mad dash from November 1st to December 31st seems to accelerate every year for me. I’m trying to get a head start with some of my holiday shopping this year, and I’m hoping to share gift guides early, so stay tuned! But, today we need to discuss decor … and one of the simplest ways to add a festive vibe to your home is with a gorgeous holiday wreath! And don’t feel like you need to limit your wreath to the front door — there’s so many creative ways to display a beautiful holiday wreath — over your fireplace, over your kitchen range, in windows, as a loner on a random wall (statement maker), over a guest bed, etc.
And don’t forget … don’t feel like to need to settle for a wreath as is … I don’t think I’ve ever purchased a wreath and not added an embellishment or two! A few quick ideas:
- Purchase a plain olive wreath and add a simple bow made with a striped ribbon — check out this luscious wreath and pair with this striped ribbon.
- Add dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and pinecones to an evergreen wreath.
- Add an asymmetrical velvet ribbon bow to virtually any wreath and it’ll go from so-so to gorgeous. These raw-edged silk and velvet ribbons are my go to for holiday decor and wrapping. They’re pricey, but worth it for a special wreath or when gifting to a special person! A few more here and here. Personally, I love the rich golds, rusts, and greens for the holidays.
- Tie a few gold bells to the center of a wreath with ribbon or twine. Etsy has a wonderful selection of antique bells here!
Here are a few of my own very simple embellishments:
