Hi Everyone — I hope you had a great weekend!
Although I was super-busy preparing for our upcoming trip out to California (yay, so excited!), Jacob, Olivia, and I were able to get out a bit and enjoy the gorgeous weather. We spent some time exploring the city — seriously, we’ve lived here almost a decade and there’s still things to see!
In terms of my look, I kept things city-chic — I needed a break from all the florals and off-the shoulder madness! Don’t get me wrong, I love both, but it seems that’s all everyone is wearing this summer! I found this skirt at Ann Taylor and fell in love! The color is simply gorgeous — a warm copper that grabs and demands your attention. Plus, I know it’s only July, but it’s never too early to start preparing for fall, and this will make a fabulous transition piece. Add some suede boots and a chunky, knit sweater, and hello October!
Another hot item this summer is the bodysuit. As a child of the 90s, I have many memories of these little suits — both fond and frightening 🙂 I must admit, I was surprised to see them back on the fashion scene — although, I guess I shouldn’t be … everything old becomes new again 🙂 This one is amazing — it’s a thick, structured fabric that allows you to go bra-free without worry. It wasn’t until I put it on that I remembered why so many people loved these things — it gives you that crisp, tucked in, mess-free look without constant re-adjustments, re-tucks, etc. You look polished and streamlined all day, sitting down, standing up, bending over, etc.. (all of which are a frequent occurrence for a working mother).
And these shoes … Ok, they are definitely something new for me, but I just loved them with this skirt, and they also look great with distressed jeans. The key for me was to keep the rest of my look sophisticated and classic. I like a little edge, but not so much that I fall over it! So, the rest of the look is simple: a small classic snakeskin bag, pearl studs, chunky gold watch, and sleek sunnies.
And for the best part — almost everything here (except the watch and bag), is under $100! In fact, most of the items are under $50! The skirt is on sale for 50% off until tomorrow, so get shopping 🙂
yours, Kristin
