Alright you guys, Thanksgiving is only about a week away … what are your plans and what are you wearing? This is one of those holidays where it pays to do some pre-planning. I know all of you could throw together an outfit that’ll make you look drop-dead gorgeous in about 5 seconds flat … but for Thanksgiving, there’s a whole lot more to consider. If, after dinner, you don’t look like you’re carrying a bun in the oven, you’ve done something wrong. Yes, it’s the one day a year when we actually attempt to eat ourselves into oblivion, and what’s more, we see fit to celebrate it! So, here’s your game plan — the perfect mix of polish and comfort …
Ok, general idea — you want loose and forgiving, but never sloppy. The best way to accomplish this not-so-easy feat … go for loose silhouettes in luxe fabrics and cozy texture. My go to: the classic satin slip dress paired with a super-soft n’ snuggly sweater (bonus points for added embellishments, interesting texture, or unexpected cut-outs).
And shoes. Ladies, out of all the holidays on the calendar, Thanksgiving is the one to relax, which means flats or a low block heel. As evidenced by my post here, you don’t need 4 inch heels to look sophisticated and feminine. Again, extra points for a little something extra here (velvet, gem embellishments, etc.).
Since this is a special occasion, keep your bag sleek and small — you can’t go wrong with a classic box clutch. And today’s the day to showcase some of your jewelry that rarely sees the light of day — statement earrings, an oversized cocktail ring, your grandmother’s antique charm bracelet … bust em’ out baby!
And, a final word about makeup …. really, this is all about you and your personality… as always, be you. I’ll be lounging on a couch, watching football, playing cards, and throwing on sneakers to run around outside with Livi … I’m all about keeping it simple 🙂 My makeup will follow suit … it’s all about cheekbones, highlighter, a swipe of mascara, and a soft, neutral lip.
You can shop my look below, and I’ve picked out several more pieces to mix and match. And stay tuned this weekend — I’ll be sharing one of my favorite Thanksgiving (dessert) recipes … so good!
Have a great week you guys!
xoxo, K
