Hi Guys! Happy Friday!
Today’s post is a round-up of my recent Insta posts — a little look book of what I’m loving right now, and a few of the pieces that I’m excited to carry into the fall and winter months!
Blush Everything
I love blush … I simply cannot get enough! It’s such a gorgeous color year-round, but I particularly love it in the colder months … it add some lightness to the black and blue abyss that takes over during the winter months.
And there’s something so luxurious and sophisticated about knits, textures, and layers all done up in blush and other light neutrals.
Embellished Blouse
I love a good tie-neck blouse, but really, any embellishment looks on point right now — add some stripes, ruffles, bows, bell sleeves … whatever suits your fancy.
Suede Skirt
Nothing says fall to me like suede … the texture, the colors … it’s fall perfection. Add a chunky knit and some booties for a casual look, or a silk blouse and heels for work … it’s incredibly versatile.
Animal Print Shoes
So, in case you haven’t noticed, animal print is back, and in full force this fall. I’m super-excited … I LOVE animal print. But, it’s best in small doses. Shoes are one of my favorite ways to wear it … classic, elegant, and understated.
Classic Timepiece
I know the standard timepiece now days is a smartphone, but I simply reject the idea. I love watches. I wear one almost every … single … day. There’s probably no bigger statement-making piece in one’s wardrobe than a watch. It’s a little power piece that packs quite the style punch. I usually stick to classics … (surprise, surprise).
Striped Dress
Hands down the most versatile piece in your wardrobe. Casual with sneakers and a jean jacket, as a layering piece over leggings or leather skinnies, booties, and and chunky knit duster cardigan, or knotted at the waist to create a cropped silhouette and worn over slacks or a dress — the possibilities are endless here.
Silk Scarf
Ok, this one is a tie with the striped dress in terms of versatility. It instantly elevates any outfit (even sweatpants, seriously), and it adds a subtle color pop.
And it can be worn numerous ways: around your neck (and there’s about 10 different ways to tie it around your neck!), as a waist-cincher, a headband, arm candy (wrap it around your wrist and tie for a bracelet-like look), or tie it on your bag as a pretty embellishment.
Statement Sneakers
Ok, we’ve all got the standard black n’ white Adidas sneakers, now you need that stand-out, statement-making pair. That doesn’t mean they can’t be classics (these Vans are making a comeback, but the vintage aspect makes them a standout in my book!), it just means they need to have a little extra something … a cool color, striking pattern, or other unique detail that makes others around you sit up and be like, “excuse me … ummm… where did you get THOSE!”
Fun Graphic Tee
Sometimes you have to loosen up and have fun. Trust me, I love elegant, sophisticated looks, but every now and then I just want to throw on something playful and be a little kid again, or at least run around with my little girl and throw responsibility to the wind for a few hours 🙂
Modern Choker
Ok, hear me out. Yes, chokers were all the rage in the 90s, and I admit that most of the ones I see out there harken back to that grunge age, and frankly just make me want to cringe. But, even I can appreciate how cool (and surprisingly elegant) these babies can be if done right. You want sleek and sophisticated. Unless you’re under age 16, try your best to stay away from ones that make you look like your trying to star in a re-make of Dawson’s Creek.
Cozy, Hooded Something
One of my favorite things about colder temps … hoods! Yes! Now, if the whole oversized sweatshirt hoodie is your thing, run with it (I’m all about staying true to your own unique style). I tend to lean towards more refined, sophisticated looks — try a hoodie in a soft sweater-knit instead of a sweatshirt, or a super-soft poncho, or even a hooded jacket. The goal here — polished, sophisticated, yet seriously comfy!
What pieces are you loving for fall right now?
I hope you have a great weekend (long one for those of you lucky enough to get Columbus Day off!)
xoxo, Kristin
