SCARF: Ann Taylor
Hello!
I hope you’re all having a great week … I know, it’s a tough one. I felt so spoiled over Thanksgiving weekend … at one point Jacob and I looked at each other and said, “wow, so this is what it feels like to sleep!” Lets just say, I was not a happy camper come Monday morning … but it’s already hump day, so we’re almost through another week!
Which also means, you have one less week to get all the gifts you need! Yeah, it goes so fast!
So, today, on to Gift Guide II — For Her … gift ideas for the women in your life — mom, sister, friend, niece, grandmother … there’s something for everyone here. So let’s dig in!
the professional
She’s works her butt off, and looks amazing doing it! The working professional is probably one of the easiest people to shop for … she’s polished, organized, and always on time. And there are certain, somewhat predictible items, that allow her to accomplish it all in style.
The Classic Cashmere Coat. In classic black or navy, this will take her from business meetings, to client lunches, to after-work cocktails. And it literally goes. with. everything. I love this wrap version (currently on sale for 30% off), and this one is also a steal on sale for under $250.
Leather Tech Gloves. As a working professional myself, I’ve been there — you find yourself in a snowstorm during your morning commute, your hands are freezing, but your boss is blowing up your smart phone … you have to respond, right?? With these babies (in love with the fringe detail and wine color), no problem. No need to remove your gloves …. type away, without your fingers turning into icicles. For a true classic with no frills, these are another great option.
The Fur Stole. Elegant, and super-warm. Every woman who endures a commute during the winter months needs one of these. I love the color-blocking detail on this one, but for a true classic, go for this one (under $40!).
All-Weather Boots. Again, it’s all about style and functionality for this working girl. These boots look sleek and sophisticated, but they are a winter commuter’s dream. All weather and waterproof … definitely work the price, they’ll last for years.
A Carry-Everything Tote. As a professional woman, your bag is your lifeblood. Notebook, planner, laptop, scarf, makeup, extra shoes, sunglasses, wallet, keys, etc. You need a tote with a sophisticated design that has room… and this gorgeous leather tote has both.
Passport Cover. Most professionals I know today tend to do some traveling. And, as I said, this woman does it all, and looks fabulous doing it. Attention to detail is everything. When she whips out her passport, it should look just as sleek and put together as the rest of her look, and with this beauty, it will.
the mom who does it all
Whether she’s a full-time stay-at-home mom, or a working mom, this woman literally does it all … every. single. day. She needs practical items that will take her from work to a soccer game to errand running. Oh, and of course, she wants to look fabulous every step of the way.
The Blanket Scarf. Neck warmer, swaddle, blanket, or make-shift changing pad … this is one of the most versatile pieces in a mom’s wardrobe. Extra points if it’s super-soft, yet washable. This one is a steal for under $50… also love this one (splurge) and this one.
The Convertible Backpack. This beauty doubles as a sleek handbag for work, and hands-free carry-all for the weekend and errand running with munchkins. It’s the only bag she’ll need, no matter where she’s headed.
The Suede Jacket. Ok, this is a splurge item that mom wants rather than needs, but that’s part of the fun of the holidays isn’t it … to give someone something they really want that they’d never buy for them self. Give her this, and watch her face light up when she opens the package.
The Apple Watch. It’s her entire life, planned out, and readily accessible …. on her wrist. With everything this woman is juggling, what could be better? Love this pink version (Series 1, under $250), or for faster app loading and longer battery life, go for the Series 2, also available in pink here, or a super-cool grey here.
The High-Top Sneaker. Super-cool, and insanely comfortable …. every mom needs a pair of sneakers … she’s gotta be able to chase those munchkins down at the park. Bonus points for fur lining in the winter! Love these (splurge), and these Converse (under $100).
The Sleek Workout Jacket. As a mother myself, there’s few things that help me stay centered more than my daily workout. I know many mothers who feel the same. You can’t go wrong with this workout jacket … she’ll wear it to and from the gym, jogging, and on errand-runs.
the recent grad
She’s finally left behind the impenetrable college bubble, and is headed out into the real world. This is a time filled with excitement and new challenges. Her gifts should strike a balance between celebrating her entrance into adulthood and equipping her with some of the basic necessities she’ll need to succeed as a professional.
Her First Designer Piece. If you’re feeling particularly splurge-y, give her her first taste of what hard work can buy. But don’t go CRAZY. I love this Chloe wallet because it’s a timeless investment piece she’ll have for years, and it doubles as a wallet and a cross-body.
The Lips & Tips Duo. What 20-something woman doesn’t want more lipstick and nail polish? For a simple, budget-friendly gift she’ll love, look no further … this set is fantastic. Also love this nail set, and this super-pretty eyeshadow compact.
The Classic Blazer. She’ll quickly learn, first impressions are everything in the professional world… and like it or not, her appearance weighs heavily in that initial calculation. She needs a few key wardrobe staples that convey she means business … enter this classic navy blazer. Done. I also love this grey glen plaid one.
The “What-do-I-Eat-for-Dinner Tonight” Lifesaver. Like I said above, she’s entering the real world. No more meals prepared by mom, or a reliable hot meal served up at the dining hall. She’s on her own…. and unless she wants to sink her entire budget on takeout, at some point she’ll have to learn to cook real food. A cookbook with healthy, quick and easy-to-prepare meals, like this one, will keep her from starving to death, or living on Ramen.
Her First “Real” Pair of Earrings. She’s finally reached an age at which she can be trusted to cherish and care for something other than a cubic zirconia… take the leap with these simple diamond ones or these pearl studs. She’ll be beaming for months.
The Sophisticated Handbag. Just like the blazer, a classic handbag is a must for the young professional. I recommend black, because it truly goes with everything. From her first big interview to landing her first client … she’ll carry it everywhere. I adore the silhouette and buckle detail on this one. For a smaller version, this one is perfect, and also love the sleek, classic design of this one.
your mom… and her mom
The Tipped Poncho. Elegant, sophisticated, and practical. Mom can wrap herself up and curl up on the couch with a good book, or layer this beauty over a turtleneck on the weekend, or over a dress for dinner.
The Suede Loafer. A comfortable, everyday classic. The pointed toe on this one creates a sharp streamlined look, but the low heel and super-soft suede means lasting comfort all day long. I love the fringe detail on these, and for a fun print, these tartan print ones are gorgeous.
Priceless Images. Moms and grandmas can’t help but fill their personal space with images of the people they love … in her eyes, you and, if you have them, your kids, are no doubt her greatest accomplishments. Give her the gift of your smiling faces all year long with a beautiful frame, love this desk set, or create a gallery wall with multiple larger frames like these.
The Silk Pajama Set. Moms and grandmas have been through a lot … they deserve to be pampered. This luxurious silk pajama set is a simple way to tell mom, “relax, pamper yourself, you deserve it.”
The Tweed Blazer. Even if your mom no longer works, she should still have a sharp jacket in her closet that she can throw on with slacks for a semi-formal occasion, or over jeans for Sunday brunch. This beauty comes in several colors … and I love ALL of them. I may be a young mother, but the pink version is on my Christmas list.
Sophisticated Scents. Every woman loves a gorgeously-scented candle — but women who finally have some peace and calm in their house (no more little munchkins running around), will enjoy it even more. These are wonderful, and you know I love my Tocca scents, so I always reach for this one! If you’re feeling particularly generous this season, pair these candles with the tipped poncho above, and add a good book to the mix, and you have the perfect little relaxation capsule for mom or grandma.
Ok, did I miss anyone? Little ladies will be covered later this week in my gift guide for kids, so don’t worry, there’s future inspiration coming your way for your little niece Emma!
Happy Shopping you guys, and let me know if there’s any particular person you’re having a hard time shopping for … I’ll try to throw some ideas your way in one of my upcoming guides 🙂
xoxo, K
